Working....

I'm not really sure that I wanted to get started again but I seem to have found my 'groove' for now. I've been cutting out and sewing up Fall patterns. Some I already had and some I've recently bought. Have you ever heard of Chestnut Junction/Kellie Sharp? She's great and has her patterns, e-patterns, for $1.99. You can find her on Etsy if you click on the link above. I just picked up another 6 yesterday. I'm also working on some patterns from Pam Gracia of Soft In the Head.
I ventured outside away from my pool to cut some wood patterns out.
I was sweating like a pig by the time I finished and it was only 11:30 a.m. I think we reached 98 by the end of the day! It's been one of those long, hot summers for us and I'm afraid it's not even close to ending. This box of goodies is awaiting paint coverage! Lots of cute Fall designs from Renee Mullins of Plum Purdy.
These girls were 'sunning' and drying out from their bath in vanilla and cinnamon. They'll be
cute-sied up in a few more days. The pumpkins are for a different pattern.
I finished this last week but just got them photo'd.
Cute and inexpensive for a favorite Teacher. You can find it in my Etsy shop HERE.
For those of you on FaceBook, you may have already seen my pictures from the weekend. These guys turned the big "10" last Friday.
They didn't want a party because parties are for 'babies' so we took them to the beach (Jax and St. Augustine).
The weather wasn't the best but we did get some sunshine in the mornings.
Daddy taught then how to 'boogie' board and they had a blast. It was a memorable B-day and said to have been the 'Best'. Well, they say that every year but I have to agree with them this time!
School starts up on the 17th here. You'll probably hear my "YIPPEE" from where you are. I'm ready to get back into routine although not too excited about the early morning start.
It's already 4:30 p.m. and I've got 2 orders to finish so I can mail them out tomorrow so I better get moving.
Hope Summer has been good to you!

BUDDY aka Hugo the Huge!

I've been working on a birthday gift for my Mother In Law and finally finished it today. It's rainy, cold and gloomy.......perfect day to set on my rump and craft!!
I started off with a pattern from the wonderful and talented Pam Gracia of "Soft in the Head".
http://softinthehead.com/item_73/Hugo-the-Huge.htm

I got him cut out and sewn up using cotton muslin. I had so much fun making his face!
I primmed him up nicely with a new prim mix I'm using.

I FINALLY went and bought some cheap instant coffee 'cause it really does make it darker. Most mixes just add a few T. of vanilla. This is my recipe:
2 cups of hot water
1/3-1/2 cup instant coffee
1 6-8 oz bottle of imitation vanilla
1/8 cup of ground nutmeg
1/4 cup of cinnamon
Pour it in a bottle and use generously! GREAT SMELLING!
My MIL brought by 2 of her wool Blazer's that she used to wear with her skirts. I used one of them to make Buddy's shirt. The original pattern calls for a small adult sweater but I thought it would mean more if I used something she'd worn.I even used the sleeves and set them in. I paired it up with some burgundy ticking for his pants.

I made him a pocket on his shirt out of the burgundy ticking and put in some Sweet Annie and cinnamon sticks; tied it up with sisal, too.

His scarf is cheese cloth stained and then microwaved....YES, I said I put it in the microwave to dry it! Works wonderfully!!

The only thing I forgot to do is put his whiskers in. I'll use sisal. Be back in a minute.......
OK, that's better!! He was SOOOO much fun to make that I will surely do it again....and again!
If you want to know more, go over to Pam's shop and get the pattern. In fact, get 2! I promise you they are easy and SO FUN to make!
Now, off to finish those dolls!
STAY TUNED!

And So It Goes.......

Good morning by blogging friends!
WOW, what a day yesterday, huh?! I guess we're fortunate that bombings aren't an everyday occurrence here. So sad that some people have so much anger in them that they could 'cause something so horrific to happen to innocent people. I still feel the 'good out weighs the bad'. If you don't have Faith, what else is there?
************
I'm not one to dwell on too much negativity. What is done is done. We'll clean up, move on, and be a better People because of it. God Bless America!
Once again my work table is full! Teacher Appreciation is coming up soon and I thought I'd better get my apples painted and ready.
I picked these up from our Overstock group and have plenty for future projects such as blocks and small signs.
I'm also working on a big project....Huge is more like it....As in HUGO the Huge!
I bought this pattern from Pam Gracia over at SOFT IN THE HEAD. I'm going to name mine Buddy and give him to a very special lady in my life....my sweet Mother-in-law. It was her birthday last week and I didn't have time to finish him. She'd given me 2 wool blazers that were hers to tear apart and use. So, I'm using the plaid blazer to make his shirt and some blue fabric for his pants. Because the Blazer is green/blue with stripes of red and gold, I'll have to choose what accent color I want his scarf to be. I'm thinking gold. What do you think? His body can actually fit into a small adult sweater which is what Pam recommends in her pattern. I just thought it would be kind of cool to include my MIL's blazer that I used to see her wear. I'm pretty sure she'll like him......I'll show you when he's dressed and ready. Painting and staining him today!
I completed an order for a returning customer yesterday. ALWAYS love making these guys! I've got a Birthday Garland in the works that one of my returned customers is helping me design. She wanted to know if I had one. I told her I'd drawn out one already and what would she like to see besides cupcakes and hearts? Well, presents of course and balloons, too, so it's outside and 'to the saws' I go today to see what I can make!
UH OH!
I think she's getting angrier by the minute!!
Stay Tuned!

WIP Wednesday

Good morning Blogging Friends!
Oh but this time change is kicking my beeeee-hind! I'm so tired before the day even gets started and I try to get to bed in a timely manner. I'm exhausted by the time I lie down only to stare at the ceiling for another 30 minutes, fall asleep FINALLY and then awaken a few hours later. This has just started with me as I used to be asleep before I hit he pillow! I'm going to blame my hormones 'cause that's what most of us in the 50+ category do!
I have had time to pick through my wood pile and paint a few things that I'd set aside.
Small and simple.

I'm finishing a doll today and working on a HUGE, I mean HUGO the HUGE, Rabbit for a special person in our family. He's a pattern by Pam Gracia of Soft in the Head. I'll show you in a few. I also have an Easter Egg Tutorial to share with you and a few small florals with Bunnies.
Our OFG Team Celebration has ended but we are still busy doing Treasuries and promoting each others shops.
Well, let me get back to my carrots, eggs, Bunnies, and Bumbles!
I hate to burst your bubbles but there is no such thing as a Crafting Fairy. I'm still waiting for the Housecleaning ones, though!
Hope your Springtime is finally showing it's face!

Unfinished Business

Uuuuurggggghhhh, Arghhhhhhh, grumble, grumble.....
I hate to start a blog post with those noises but I have SO much unfinished business around here!
The kids have had a virus (THANKFULLY not the flu!) and I finally took them to the doc yesterday 'just in case'. I had them tested for Strep and all is well, thank goodness. Just a virus as I'd suspected. Funny how they were moping and dragging around, complaining about sore throats and headaches and not wanting to go to school before the doc visit and then, after I took them and they found out they're all right, miraculously they turned back into the energizer bunnies! I'm sure the shot that I threatened them with helped, bwhahahahahahaha (evil mother's laugh)!!
As you can see, my artistic endeavors have been seized by smaller hands and I have a lot of creations on hold. For example:
 ....unfinished cupcakes......
.......incomplete bunnies........

 .........nekked dollies (oh dear!)........
......and upside down rabbit make-dos.
Of course, I'm still waiting on 4 more new patterns coming in from Pam Gracia of Soft in the Head.
I cannot WAIT until I get some time to make Mildred (on the left). She is a big girl and I just love the way she looks!
The kids did go back to school today and I'm waiting on the TV repairman. You know the waiting time...."we'll be there between whenever and the next to never"!
Hope your business is getting finished and not hanging around like mine.
Giveaway is coming soon SO.....
Stay Tuned!
