Taking Off a Little Time

I usually take off this time of year. The kids are out of school and I normally need a break from all of the orders. This year has been especially demanding with my Etsy. I said I wouldn't let it get to be 'work' so it's important for me to recognize when I need to stop and take a rest.
Now that doesn't mean I'm being idle! I've been working with some 8-11 year old girls (like Girl Scouts but we call them Activity Day Girls) and they've been keeping me busy. We had a great time last Friday at our Daddy/Daughter "GONE FISHIN" Activity.
I should've taken a closer pic. The 'Fish Bowls' were made up with the glass marbles from the $ Tree and some fun little ugly wooden fish I made (my 8 year old daughter painted)! It all set on a green burlap mat with plastic sea creatures and a GONE FISHIN sign. Each table had a pack of GO FISH cards.

"SHARKY" --the photo booth! He ate a lot of heads!

$ Tree nets for the table and some of my own décor at home. These tables were filled with 'Chicken' dishes as the girls said they didn't want ANYTHING 'fishy' to eat. Watermelon, salads, green beans, and rolls completed the menu.

I've also cut, sewn, and prepared dolls for Fall and Christmas sales, and am currently working on some Women's 'clothing accessory' pieces to sell this year.
These were the last pieces I'd finished before shutting down.

I sold the Bee Skep right away to a return customer. Guess I'll have to make another one. It's made from a pattern that I adapted by Oodlekadoodle.
I've already cut some small wooden plaques for the girls to paint tomorrow. Going to teach them a little Decoupage. Should be fun and educational.....for me, too!
Hope your summer is going well. We're getting LOTS of rain but that always a good thing when you live on a lake!!

Pre Celebration Fun!

Ahhhhhhh, Friday is here! I LOVE the weekends and getting to sleep in on Saturday morning!

Of course, sleeping in for me is not getting up until 7:00 a.m. around here!
It's been raining, thank goodness, for the last few days. We need it so badly here and I'm praying for a LOT more!
I'm working on some items for our upcoming OFG "SUMMER FUN" Celebration! We're already experiencing temps of high 80's and low 90's around here so for us, it's just around the corner. I know many of you are still waiting for SPRING!
I LOVE the colors of Summer and am working on Melons, Crows, and these!
I've been baking up a storm and my kitchen smells of vanilla and cinnamon. This last picture is also part of my FB Mystery Giveaway. I'll post a winner and a picture of the finished piece on Monday, May 6th. Still time to sign up....just go to my rt. sidebar and click on the first picture. Then LOOK for the same picture and leave your comment for a chance to win. Think I'll actually give away 2 of these!
Enough of this as I've a ceiling to paint. The walls will be next in a nice girlie pink...for our 7 year old daughter. Carpet will be replaced after that and then we can put everything back together! It's a bit sad for me as I'm covering up the paintings that were once the Nursery for the twins. I'll show you before and after once I'm done!
Hope your day is a good one!

K.I.S.S.

These initials can have various meanings for a few different phrases but for me, it stands for this:
Keep It Simple Summer.
That's my motto right now.  Not stressing over having parties. Not stressing over cutting out tons of wood and keeping my Inventory up. Just doing what I want and entertaining the kids every once in a while. Yep, my kinda Summer!
We've been doing lots of yard work. Trying to help my hubby out since he can't come home but every 2 weeks. He's got so much on his plate right now and the last thing he needs to worry about is a yard when we're able-bodied and can handle it!
So, my crafting has taken a back seat for now. I did get a big order yesterday but I have 2 weeks to complete it and get it shipped!
I did get these done.
Super fast and fun to make from Old Annie Primitives. Hers are done up more Primitive than mine but by now you should understand my aesthetic!
Also working on more of the orange, black, and witchy green.....
Yes, I paint mine with a darker brown base and then apply black on top. After they've dried, I sand them. The one standing up has the painting steps finished. It's now time for embellishing! I'll make these Prim while my Wooden Boots will be all about Neon Halloween Colors, hehehehehehehehehe (evil witch cackle!)!
Guess I'll go and get in the pool again with the kids. Beautiful day with lots of sunshine so why should I waste it?! What? You want a picture of me? In my Swimsuit? You don't say!! Well, if it's a picture you want then here.....
.....and THAT'S as good as it gets!
