Back to Work

Well, sort of.
I thought I'd wait until the New Year got here to start work on some new things but I've looked on Etsy and other artists are WAY ahead of me. SO, I'm designing and cutting this weekend, especially since we are FINALLY warming up to some comfortable temps! This 'bone chilling' 40 degree stuff is for those up north who can handle it. I'm not one of them!
I got this up in time for stockings and some garlands.
I want to make a few more smaller ones for hanging back packs and jackets on. I may offer a few on my Etsy depending on the cost of shipping. They really come in handy!

I've also been putting together a mural/photo backdrop for the youth in our Stake. They're having a NYE dance tomorrow and needed something for photos so I came up with this.

Painted on a refrigerator box...it's quite large!
A little cardinal singing "Winter Wonderland"!

A pair of skaters!

Of course, it wouldn't be complete without 'Frosty' himself!

Valentine's day will be here soon so that's my next project. Thank goodness the 70 degree weather is on the horizon! Cold hands and scrollsaws DO NOT mix and I appreciate all 10 of my fingers too much!

Hope you have a Blessed, Safe, and Happy New Year!

Away In a Manger

Once upon a time, I started work on a very special manger scene. I made 5 of them to give to family with only 4 of the main players plus the stable with the star.
This pattern comes from Kenna Reynolds and Donna Malone. It depicts children in a play and is, by far, the cutest manger scene I've ever, well, seen! Anyway, I FINALLY finished the last of my manger scene a week ago.
This is the one piece I was really dragging my feet on because of all of the detail.

I just love that one of the wisemen is in a wheel chair. Having a mentally handicap daughter myself, it just made it that much more real.
Angels proclaiming the birth!
The donkey was a horse that they threw a pillow on!
I still have to add to the other scenes that I gave out as gifts. I think my sister in law's is the only one closest to being finished. I owe her the Wisemen and I think that's it!
What does your Manger Scene look like?

Last One!

I painted this one for a friend. He requested an 'old barn' for his mother.
Not something I would choose to do for myself. My husband really likes it though. I'm still pretty stiff with my trees. I think I need to do a picture of nothing BUT trees...that would help!

Are Things Looking Like This for You?

Available in my Etsy shop (see banner at the top of my blog)
It's just going by too fast! It doesn't help that we've been harbouring colds all week and can't get out. I did accomplish quite a bit this year so I'm pleased that my 'didn't get to it' box is mostly empty. I'm working on another oil and just a few personal items now. My Nativity will finally be complete after today! I'm psyched since it's taken me, literally, years to get to all of the pieces.
Hope your days are not too hectic. This should be a time where we all can enjoy the thoughts and beauty of the true meaning of Christmas.
Have a merry one!!

An Opinion Needed

What does it need? Anything? My husband mentioned Geese but I'm almost feeling anything else would take away from the mountain. Got an opinion? I'm listening........

Remembering...and a WINNER!

When I first started this blog in July of 2008, I was still a bit 'overwhelmed' at the possibilities of beginning my craft business again with balancing the task of taking care of 2 1/2 year old boy/girl fraternal twins. I started with just a few pictures of my oils (on my right side bar) and no followers. It didn't take long before 3 gals, 2 of which I knew personally and the other which I'd met through cyber space, quickly became the first of my fan base.  One has gone on to have a baby and she doesn't visit here very often but because they were my first "3", I am sending them a 'little' something for their Christmas tree to show my appreciation for their support.

Choir Angel Ornaments

So one is on the way to Nancy J., Elizabeth M., and Kasey S.  I want you to know how much I appreciate ALL of my followers and look forward to a great Giveaway year in 2011!
Now, onto the winner of this Giveaway!
I used random.org to choose my winners. I give everyone a number, for example:
if you are the first to leave a  comment and say you're a follower, you are number 1 and 2. Got it?
Good!
Our winner tonight is...

#6 DEBBIE (isn't it Rigby, now?) who wants the Snowman

AND
(yes, another one!)

#13TRISH-LADYBUG who wants the Mary and Baby Jesus

CONGRATS WINNERS!
Contact me at VicWeave@aol.com with your addresses so I can get these out to you a.s.a.p.!

AND big thanks and cyber hugs to all who participated! This is my last Giveaway this year so I can dedicate the rest of my time to my busy family. (If anyone is interested in seeing my family blog, please email me and I'll send you the blogspot address!)

Love and Blessings.

In Turkey Overdrive

I hope your Thanksgiving celebrations have been wonderful. Mine have although I am now feeling the affects of the Tryptophan. Lethargic with general malaise...awww, who am I kidding; I'm just being lazy!!!
I did manage to get these finished before the 'big' day though....and it's a good thing because they'd still be sitting on my table...waiting...

Some word blocks...

Cut from 2x4 pine lumber...

 My kids love this one!

'Wishful thinking' this 80 degree weather we're having would cool down a bit!

These are available in my Etsy shop. (Click on the banner at the top of my blog to enter).

I'm still working on some Giveaway items for next week.
Stick around...it'll be a short one and well worth it!!

Keeping It All in Perspective....and a Bit Prim!

I can't do it all. As much as I'd like to, I can't paint every pattern or design I have every day, ALL day. I have too many other factors in my life that prevent that, PLUS, I'd get 'painter's burnout' quickly!
Henry was left out of my Thanksgiving Giveaway because of the above reasons.
I didn't want to put him back in the box of 'unfinished' though, so I got him completed amidst the onslaught of all things red and green. But to make him feel at home, I kept him in the company of my other Primitives.

Santa!

Some Ginger Garland!

My favorite...a Snowman!
And, in reality, they're not as primitive as they should be but I can't let go of my OCD long enough to totally 'Prim' them out!
I've saved a few of these back so I can offer them to you in my Giveaway coming up soon. It will be my last one of the year. I'll do my best to keep you posted!
Meanwhile, make sure you look at my sidebar to the right of this post and join in some other great Giveaways!!

A little of this, a little of that!

I've rested up and have been working like a mad woman. If I can get more inventory in the next few weeks, I'll be home free to enjoy the holidays with my family. I've got about 20 projects that are almost done and I'm saving a few for my next Giveaway. Sure hope you'll stop by and see me next week!

A Thanksgiving "Giveaway"! (CLOSED)

It's that time again...and I can't believe it's still Wednesday; late, but still Wednesday!
I've been working on lots of Turkeys, Pilgrims, and Inspirational signs. Here, let me show you...
You've already seen these,
and these, (these hang by a sawtooth hanger in the back)

and even this.

Do you remember this guy? The Turkey with a cause? Still trying to save his own feathers!

This one's name is Tucker,

and this is Thomas, (he's dressed a bit more than the others!)

and this one is Taylor! He's decoupaged with some scrapbook paper and mod podge! He actually hangs on the wall instead of being a shelf sitter as he seems to be here.

I've included Penny Pilgrim but her mate, Peter, is still sitting on my table unfinished.

Two more signs...something we should always think about being...

and a new one...measures 16"l x 7"w.

Well, if you've been here before, then you know how we do this!

All you have to do is leave a comment but if you'd like more than one chance, then do the following ALL in the same comment. (Numbering them will help like this)
1. Comment and tell me which item you'd like to have.
2. Tell me you're a follower of my blog or become one.
3. Blog about this Giveaway on FB or your Blog
4. Tell me whatchadoin for Thanksgiving??
That's it!
I'll leave this up and running until next Friday, November 12. I'll let you know that evening who won!!
Thanks for participating!!

I Know...I Know....

I did...I promised you a Giveaway this weekend but it has to wait until Wednesday of next week. My sander came in day before yesterday and I've not been able to sand my cut items due to Halloween festivities...no, not for me...for the twins. How sad they would be if we were to miss out on the party tonight!
Here's a peek at one of the items I'll have next week. Make sure you stop by, okay?!

Is This Even Right?

Well, the stores do it!! I'm into all things "Thanksgiving", getting ready for a Giveaway this weekend. These will be in my Etsy shop, however, I have another pair I'm giving away that I think you'll like.
Stay tuned!

Another One Bites The Dust!

Literally! My large belt sander has died. This year has been the worst for my tools. I've had the originals for many, many years and it was time for the others, yes, I understand, but this one....this one was only a few months old replacing the first, long time friend. Thank goodness for warranties but now comes the hassle of returning. Not fun.
Meanwhile, this is on my table.

I would love to sit down and finish it all,
however,
THIS is taking presidence.
(These are centerpieces for a social I'm chairing this weekend)
I'm tired of pumpkins and the color orange...and I love the color orange but I'm ready to replace it with red...and even green! Yeh, I like the sound of that!
I'll be having another Giveaway next weekend to celebrate "Thanksgiving"; one of my favorite holidays that is ALWAYS over shadowed by Halloween and Christmas.
Hope you'll stop by to chat with me!
