I Need An Opinion....

Help me out here....I need to add some foliage in the foreground that will reflect the colors in the sky but what else is this painting lacking besides brightness in the foreground? It looks very dark but that's because of my terrible photography! I'm thinking of a large Evergreen on the right side, (if you're looking at the painting), but am wondering will it 'unbalance' the landscape? I don't want it symmetrical but I don't want it to look 'off' either. I've thought of adding some deer on the left but everyone else is saying no...the pond is the focal. What do you think?

Hi Vicky, I love the painting! Sunsets are my favorite things in the whole wide world. I'm wondering if what is bothering you about the painting is that everything is centered? I learned in photography to divide a photo into thirds and each third should have something of interest. In your painting you've got the sunset, the mountain and the lake all in the center. I think it is lovely just the way it is but I can certainly understand your frustration. I know the perfect answer will come to you and I can't wait to see it finished. Anne

Hey Vicky, I'm with Annie on this one. I find my paintings and art work best when I map them out in a triangle format. That way your eye is drawn around the canvas. It does look so beautiful just as it is, but if it bugs you, maybe you could add some foliage around in the "thirds" method. I'm jealous, wish I could paint like you. Hugs-Summie

You probably have finished this by now but some flowers in tne meadow might be a good way to pull in the colors! I am not an artist but am an admirer of it does that count? What great work! You continue to amaze me! Is there really anything you can't do?

I am checking in late but I would love to see some color in the foreground, like Joan said, maybe some flowers? You did a beautiful job on it.
